The 2009 edition: an outstanding result for an exceptional event

MONTREAL – In many ways, the 2009 edition turned out to be one of the most successful editions in many years.  This student recruitment event of the Greater Montreal Area pursued its progression for a fourth year in a row, welcoming a increased number of 26,500 visitors, that is, approximately 4,000 additional visitors (18%) than in 2008.

In line with our development goals, the number of students in group visits kept increasing reaching 18,957 people. Also, the number of adult visitors increased significantly to approximately 7,500 visitors.

Same thing for the exhibitors, as we registered 265 participants and partners to The National Education Fair and The National Job Fair – presented jointly - a fourth consecutive increase, and the most significant one since the acquisition of INEO, in December 2005, by Daniel Levesque, also the owner and founder of The National Job Fair & Training Expo of Toronto.

Two major projects were also implemented in 2009: the Future Engineers Expo, under the Honorary Presidency of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec, Constituent Member of Engineers Canada, gathering together engineering schools and faculties who joined their efforts to promote their sector to the youth. The Professions Avenue, created with the support and involvement of the Conseil interprofessionnel du Québec, included 16 professional orders eager to promote their numerous professions and inform on the restrictions that may apply. Those two new projects were added to all the other theme pavilions and usual sections of the fair to make the event a fulfilling experience.

For the first time, The National Education Fair and The National Job Fair had the great privilege to welcome the Government of New Brunswick as an Associate Sponsor of both events. Their involvement is a clear proof of trust and the recognition of the leading role the fairs play in the general public recruitment events in Quebec. This leading status is also reinforced with the participation of the Government of Quebec in those two fairs, confirming the importance to reunite under one single roof those two inseparable worlds: education and employment.

Furthermore, The National Education Fair and The National Job Fair were presented in two distinct halls, that is, respectively in the West Hall and the East Hall of Place Bonaventure. Two events presented jointly, a unique concept and the same goal to offer visitors the whole information on the training programs, career options, employment and career services.

It was proved once again that education and employment go hand in hand, and the organizers are proud to be the only ones to present them together in perfect harmony.

Finally, the success of the fairs is the result of a series of important changes and new developments implemented for this 2009 edition, which are paving the way to an outstanding 15th edition.

Regions in the limelight

MONTREAL – For several years, the region of Rimouski has been a dynamic participant in the Fair. Rimouski has grouped together its CEGEP, its university, the Maritime Institute and its municipality to promote the region as a great place, to learn, live and work.

This year, the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region is following suit. Strengthening your investment

MONTREAL – By participating to the Education Fair of Montreal, exhibitors are investing wisely in the development or their organization. It is legitimate that they want to make sure their investment will have been used efficiently and will generate results.

It is actually not always easy to measure the fallout from your participation to public events. The most common mistake is to only base your results on number of visitors met or recruited on site. It is a mistake because we know that participation to public events can generate results for over six months after the event. In fact, the fair is one of the most efficient media for its outstanding range. And, event more, the most interactive media!

Several measures can be used to maximize your recruitment at the fair, as well as to collect precious information on the visitors who stopped by your booth and to make a follow-up after the event. Your communicational approach, the design of your booth, the animations presented such as demonstrations, contests, draws, quiz and skill tests are many ways to help you establish a personalized and unforgettable contact. Here is precisely what you need to do: To make sure the candidates will remember you by developing your own winning approach!

Universities are coming back strongly!

MONTREAL – Universities always participated to the Education Fair of Montreal since 1996 and they are coming back even more strongly in 2008! Already more than 18 universities and institutions offering university programs have confirmed their participation, and it is only the beginning of the registration period for the 2008 edition.

The Education Fair, the only event of its kind in the Greater Montreal Area, is proud to collaborate with the university recruitment since 13 years. This is the ultimate event to reach youth in career exploration process who will shortly become the university clientele on their way for an exciting professional future. Since a long time, universities understood the critical role the Education Fair of Montreal is playing to allow them to massively reach the teenagers and to promote their programs.

The Education Fair is Quebec’s career exploration biggest classroom for high school students. It is also the best place to meet parents and adults wishing to go back to school or to update their competencies. It is the annual gathering of the education, training and career worlds.

A very special guest!

MONTREAL – During the last edition of the Education Fair in October 2007, we had the pleasure to welcome the Minister of the Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale du Québec, Mr. Sam Hamad. The Minister took advantage of this opportunity to visit the Government of Quebec Place, a not-to-be-missed section of the Fair since its beginning in 1996.

In an interview to the reporter Nicolas Deslauriers for Les Réussites du Québec broadcast at Canal Savoir, Mr. Hamad mentioned how much impressed he was with all the people attending the fairs to gather information on trades and to access employment opportunities. He also underlined the importance of the matching between the two fairs distinctive concepts: The youth who are exploring their career options at the Education Fair and the adults in job search process at the Training Career Fair.

Parents Place

MONTREAL – Amongst all resources available to help youth with their career exploration, it is recognized that parents play the most influential role. Yet, they might not feel they are the most well-prepared and well-equipped to face this challenge. This is why we have decided to give parents a special place at the Fair this year.

The day of Saturday, October 18, 2008, will be dedicated specially to parents and their teens. Special activities, workshops and conferences will be on the schedule to give parents concrete tools to support them in their guidance role with their teens. The schedule of this special day will be posted on the website of the Education Fair in the coming months. It will also be promoted through our general public advertising campaign in order to invite parents to visit the Montreal Education Fair 2008 with their teens. Stay tuned!
